The Importance of Fathers

Babies can hear in their mother's womb by the third month. When the baby's father talks, the baby hears and knows the father's voice as well as the mother's. I read a special story about this recently from Penny Simkin's book, The Birth Partner:

"I will never forget one of the most beautiful welcomes I ever witnessed for a ceasarean-born baby. When the couple had learned early in the pregnancy that their baby was a boy, they sang the song, "Here Comes the Sun!" to him every day. When their baby emerged, the father was so overcome that he began singing loudly, in a choked-up voice, "Here Comes the Son!" The mother joined in weakly, despite her nausea and trembling. The baby stopped crying and looked right at his dad. Everyone in the operating room was very moved, and I was in tears. What a lucky child!"

If you talk to your baby, even before birth, baby is listening. To learn more about life before birth, visit: http://www.birthpsychology.com/lifebefore/early3.html. The developing physical and emotional life of the baby in the womb is a wondrous thing to learn about!
