The Midwife of Auschwitz
Recently, I learn something extraordinary: more than 3000 babies were born in Auschwitz. There was a midwife in the camp who cared for women in childbirth. Her name was Stanislawa Leszczynska, and she lost not one mother or baby in the birth process. She said: "It was their purpose to live." Though many were lost or infanticide (1500) and malnutrition (1000), over FIVE HUNDRED LIVED.
